Gentlemen,

regarding the secure chatroom, initially when the decision was taken to attach a message board to the website it was decided to make it an open forum. This it was felt would be of most benefit to anyone looking for family or long lost friends, who could of course access the board without having to be a member of the reunion club. However we were then, and still are very aware of the security situation particularly surrounding the reunion. To this end we have always asked members not to openly post the name and location of the hotel we use. Although it doesn't take a rocket scientist to find out this information we try not to make it too easy.

When it was suggested that we could perhaps try a secure room on the board I wasn't initially a fan as I felt it may take people away from the main chat forum. However I do of course realise there are occasions when certain topics should not be discussed on the open forum. We have had quite a few good examples of this since the secure room has been in place, and I have to say, to date it appears the main chat forum has not been affected in the slightest. One of our main concerns has always been the infiltration of the wannabees to the site, this secure room allows us to openly discuss the eligibility of any doubtful applicants without causing any embarrassment if indeed the person is a genuine case. So in my humble opinion the secure room is working well with no adverse affect on the other forums. I will continue to assess it it's popularity and function over the coming months.

Anyone wishing to access the secure room has to be a full member of the reunion club and should contact me giving their full name, and their board user name before access is granted.

Al.
