I thought that it was WW2??? There were still a few of them knocking about when i joined.......what was the name of the ex SAS PTI that we had in 66??? Absolute bloody maniac. Then there was Taff Mazan who should have had his own UN badge ...fought for the Poles, Germans and then Brits.

Ian it was,nt Korea when he told me the tale in Borneo[he was in the next bunker to us mortars attached to B/Coy] it was Normandy and the D Day landings where he was a sergeant tank commader driving off the LCT and a private at the top of the beach, having drove into a bog and went hull down.I wonder if it was the same tank that was extracted a few years ago and is now a memorial? There was an article in one of the tabloids a good few years ago about an old Para who after a Sunday afternoon session down the pub was kept awake by some kid flying his radio controled model aircraft just outside his bedroom window [Wilky!] So without more ado he went into his wardrobe got out his trusty old 12 bore and blew it out of the sky and went back to bed to sleep it off!! And thats when the law was dragged in,hence the tabloids.
