I raed His Book and found it very Fair and imformative.
I cant recall whether or not he compromised anyones personal Security,if I had seen that Im sure I would have Remembered.
What I can recall though is that he wrote about some of the unsavoury Bullying that went on from time to time, which really should not have been going on in the First Place.
I think he/s done really well to get on in civilian life Book or No Book.
Good Luck to him and anyone else for that Matter.
Percy dont take this out of context, but Harry mentioned B...s in Ballymurphy and also he mentioned a few names when he was in the RUC,B...s can verify this.I dont know the veracity of the contents of the book, but he has done well for himself. As for the bullying he was a follower rather than a leader, obviously he was rubber dicked for the worse jobs, thats being naive not bullied.

I can only remember Harry in Northern Ireland, The Mortars used to say "Mickey Mouse has a Harry Gow watch".....Sorry Harry, I thought it was funny at the time.
I have to say you look more like Winston Churchil now, less the cigar.
Come, come, come Harry. I read your book and the room was covered in hair by the time I had finished. I wonder why!!!!!!!!!!!
I was also in MOS (FREL side) and ANG (worked for the MPLA after Callan & Co. SATCHMO was in the jail then) (Where are you now Satch????
Was in SL with PORRIDGE, your book came up in conversation>>we had some laughs.
PHIL also sends regards. Can you remember the Plt Sgt when you first arrived in 2. You reckoned that he didn't like you. Well ask me one day.....I WAS THAT MAN (your role model!!!!!!!!!!)
Thought that you might follow me into the role of International Contract Heli pilot, but NO. Anyway you definitely hit second base . Congratulations. Buy me a drink someday. You owe me one or two. You weren't exactly a PLT Sgt's cream on the cherry but something must have rubbed off seeing as you did the circuit. Did you ever meet MT or SM?????
Have a good one.
Harry certainly used my name in his book but at least he used it to describe a funny situation ...... but then were there any funny situations regarding me ex mother in law !!!!!! noooooooooooooooooooooo
Just reading Hs book and I must say that the use of fertilizer was quite liberal. A good adjective to describe it is BULLSHIT. The ghost writer really got carried away with himself. I don't think that the script did the Parachute Regt or the platoon any favours at all. No doubt it might appeal to Hoodies and Wanabees but a lot of us who were there are still arouind and know the facts. The use of names and description of some of the scenarios is irresponsible and darn right stupid. It could still land people in trouble.
I was particularly enraged at the photos of the shooting of a buffalo with an automatic weapon. I thought the Somalis were bad when they traveled south to shoot elephants in Mosambique but to take buffalos out with autos is despicable. I spent a lot of time in Mosambique and anti poaching was part of the job and the only time we used autos was on the poachers. It is also a fact that a Buff at full charge is a very dangerour animal and at 15 feet one would need a 105 or 120 to stop it.(photos will follow)
Write the books by all means and make some money but let's keep the facts straight.
When I was in Rhodesia Greenleader we always put a z in Mozambique when we visited there, and reading one of your earlier threads you hinted you were with Frelimo who were backed by the communist fighting the Portuguese .They were fighting for a one party socialist state, rapeing and murdering where ever they went, bit like Zanu and Zapu, nice unit you were with.at least the Renamo were a little better, although Mozambique and Zim is still a mess.Have a nice day.
